Caribbeana Communications, established in 2008, is now managing Caribbeana Radio’s annual fundraiser, the comedy festival, which also supports the volunteer work of Von Martin and his news team of three volunteers for Caribbeana. Von has served in local, national and international radio for over three decades. His Triple ‘E’ philosophy of educating, entertaining, and enlightening all that reflects the Caribbean through media, especially radio which impacts millions in the U.S., alone. He has accomplished his work as a volunteer programmer on WPFW’s 89.3 fm airwaves since 1975. He receives zero funding from WPFW 89.3 fm and has supported his love and passion for radio and celebrating cultural diversity through music and the arts by producing the comedy festival.
Taking the program to the next level he created a media broadcasting company to address the perception of Caribbean culture and its people as well as enlighten non-Caribbean audiences to past and current affairs focused on Caribbean societies through news, music, and interviews. Through CCI he aims to narrow a gap in conventional media that has no identifiable place for Caribbean cultures and its Diaspora.
