The Count down to Baltimore MD/Washington DC One Caribbean Carnival continues!

Just more Days

In just 3 days the fun STARTS here in Baltimore, Maryland; as the Carnival Committees of Baltimore and Washington DC present their 2014 Caribbean Carnival.  Yup...friends and family, the Cultural Extravaganza begins as 2014 Baltimore/Washington DC One Caribbean Carnival Kicks off.  I know many of you are excited, and can't wait for Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13th.

Having the unique opportunity of being a part of the of Wash. DC Caribbean Carnival Committee as an Executive Board Member (The actual Organizing Committee)  for a number of years; as well as being a Bandleader (producing my own band for the parade for many years), and a member of the Executive board of the DC Bandleaders Association; you can just imagine how embedded in my brain all the details are of producing and staging a Carnival.

LOL, and it's "No joke" with the production of a Carnival.  It's all about work...work...and more work, as well as NO SLEEP; especially in the last month before the event takes place.  Not to mention the exciting "madness" that occurs in these last 3 days before the event.  However, I must admit that it is absolutely rewarding experiencing the "greatest show on earth" unfold on Carnival day.

Well, Good luck to all of you the BANDLEADERS who are very busy making your last minute costumes for your masqueraders; as well as assuring that all the details regarding your truck are set (the building of the truck, the sound equipment ready to be loaded on to the truck; as well as their DJs being prepared for supplying the music on their truck in the parade), and not forgetting all their preparations for the parade regarding their masqueraders...specifically providing all their masqueraders needs while in the parade.  As for the VENDORS; I know you are also busy "running around" purchasing and preparing  the array of delicious food items, and/or purchasing/organizing your products for the big day.  And I must mention the VENDING COORDINATOR...and the huge responsibility he/she undertakes as  he/she organize and prepare everything for each vendor; as well as the park.  LOL, a responsibility I am proud to have been assigned; and have managed fully and successfully for many years.

Needless to say, the International Artist are preparing to travel to Baltimore; and the local ones are super excited and rehearsing for their performances.  Finally, the DJs who are assigned to the park --- be assured they are organizing their music and intensely  "prepping"; in an effort to entertain everyone in attendance on the big days.  I know all parties involved in this cultural event are ready and set to make this the best Carnival ever.

Wow, what I mentioned above is just a small aspect of the Carnival; their are so many other important areas that members of the various committees are responsible for, and work tirelessly managing.  I say today to all of them: "GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU; and on PRODUCING A FUN, SAFE, AND SUCCESSFUL CARNIVAL this weekend."

There are many events, and parties, "fetes" taking place in and around Baltimore celebrating Carnival; so check them out. As I stated last week pure "bacchanal", as well as lots of fun will be taking place this Saturday and Sunday (July 12th & 13th) in Baltimore.  Please note the parade kicks off 12:00 Noon on Saturday-7/12/14 at 900 E. 33rd Street, Baltimore, Maryland.  And the fun continues at Lake Clifton Park --- located at 2701 St. Lo Drive, Baltimore, Maryland 21213.  The festivities continues on Sunday-7/13/14 at Lake Clifton Park.

Your attendance is a MUST this weekend; so  make arrangements to be in Baltimore---Maryland, and  get ready to enjoy all the festivities of this wonderful...fun-filled cultural event.  The flyers located below have all the details regarding the performers, and much...much more.
