Well, HELLO again On-line family and friends!
I am hope you are doing fine, and all is well with you and
[Chuckling] you ladies and
gentlemen…my dear...dear friends and family - - -
ARE SO VERY FUNNY!
I am still giggling at the main responses I received from a
large number of you regarding my last
week’s e-Newsletter where I talked about this summer being the
shortest; and “time is flying.”
Needless to say, your explanations are hilarious!
LOL, you carefully stated in the most courteous manner [trying
not to offend me] that it is a sure sign of getting old.
Oh yes, I do know that the rapid movement of time is a major
sign of getting old [which is something many of us have a
little difficulty facing.] Personally,
for me it is hard to admit; or face the fact of the inevitable –
"GETTING OLD;" at least not yet …not at this time!
Especially, since I have so many things to accomplish and so
many goals to reach.
Quite a few of you did agree that the summer was pretty short, and further felt that something strange is taking place regarding this time moving along so rapidly. If you have any more detailed ideas why, [other than the obvious fact that we all are getting old;] feel free to share them, or share your thoughts and/or theories with me. I would love to hear them!
feel this is the appropriate time to thank you for all your feedback.
We love them, and We Welcome them. Please know
that we truly appreciate them, and you greatly. I have said on
many occasions "I learn so much from you;" which
allows me to grow mentally. Indeed it's truly a joy to receive
all your feedback; and it's an absolute pleasure for us to read all
what you have to say!
I have been wondering lately~~~why is it that I find it very difficult having a decent conversation with people…one that is productive, interesting and not “one sided”? [Oh dear…and here I go complaining again…right! LOL]
Well...let me explain further; I find lately while engaged in any kind of a conversation with colleagues and friends; the conversation turns out to be more about what the other think, feel, observe and do. Mind you though, the person/s I am conversing with is on the right track as they communicate and debate about whatever issue we are focusing on. However, when it comes to sharing my feelings, thoughts, observations, and what I do; the opportunity is never fully given. I find most people keep going on, and on, and on; without even pausing for a moment to allow me or others in our group to speak and share freely. Which soon begins to turn into a “shouting match;” where many are trying to get a word in, and they end up shouting above each other to do so.
In my business, I always have wonderful
opportunities to engage in some of the most fascinating conversations
and healthy debates and discussions [on a frequent basis;] and
throughout the years the way I converse/share with people has helped
me grow and learn. First
and Foremost, I LISTEN ATTENTIVELY!
And I have learned a long time ago, that a conversation is
supposed to be conducted in the following manner:
One speak, state their opinion, feeling, thought, etc.
on a particular subject; and they then PAUSE to hear [LISTEN
and ABSORB] what their associate/s, colleague/s or friend/s have to
say on the issue. And the conversation remains interesting as they continue
exchanging their thoughts, opinions, ideas, experiences and/or
feelings. Of course, they
may not agree or have the same ideas on the subject they are
discussing; but conducting it in a professional but pleasant manner
keeps the conversation healthy, interesting, and friendly.
Don’t you agree? Hahaha,
I think some people now-a-days just love
hearing themselves talk, and talk, and talk without letting their
colleagues actively participate in the conversation/s.
I’m wondering ~~~ have you experienced
this, and if so how did you handle it?
Do you just silently step away as I always do, and get lost in
my own thoughts. Perhaps here, I should explain why I step away;
simply because the shouting above each other is annoying; and to me it
is unimportant to try and participate in a conversation with people
who don't have the courtesy to LISTEN and/or allow others to talk,
plus share their comments; and most importantly be heard.
Please DO share with us your thoughts and experiences on this
Earlier this week Trinidad and Tobago celebrated the anniversary of their Declaration of Republic Status ("Republic Day",) specifically on Monday, September 24, 2012. I hope many of you my fellow Trinbagonians, and friends who hold some love and interest for this lovely twin island; used this important day to reflect on the history of this holiday, and why it is being celebrated.
Republic [noun]: A state or nation in which the Supreme Power rests in all the citizens entitled to vote (the electorate), and is exercised by representatives elected, directly or indirectly, by them, and responsible to them. (Courtesy of Webster Dictionary)
Trinidad and Tobago for many years was a monarchy, but the islands became Republic on August 1st, 1976, after it was decided that they should no longer be required to owe allegiance to the Queen of England, and that their should be a Head of State in its own right.
This event is celebrated as a public holiday every year on September 24th, because this is the date the first Parliament met under the new Republican Constitution. The date was removed from the official Calendar of Holidays from 1999 to 2001 to make way for the Spiritual Baptist (Shouter) Liberation Day holiday. The Republic Day holiday was reinstated in 2002.
"To bring about such a meaningful and independent status, the conversion of the former Constitution from its character as an Order of Council of the Queen into that of an indigenous instrument of government fashioned by citizens of T&T, was effected by the Parliament enacting the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Act, 1976. The constitution provides for a President who, in the exercise of his functions under the Constitution or any other law, acts in accordance with the advice of the Cabinet or a minister acting under the general authority of the Cabinet where provision is made by the Constitution."

the celebration of paying tribute to Hispanics during the next 2 days
