Respect, and greetings to all of you our online family and friends!  We do hope all of you are wonderful!  Can you believe it’s the 3rd day of August already?  Boy…oh...boy, these months have certainly flown by in an extremely rapid pace…don’t you agree?

Clearly, sizzling summertime is here and in full effect; with sultry lazy days and warm nights.  Not to mention how beautiful it is with the trees in full bloom ~~~ just full of green leaves, and flowers that are ohhh so beautiful.  The refreshing and warm summer rain, that pop up from time to time is always lovely and calming to me.   And WoW, it’s a joy to hear the laughter of the children in my neighborhood as they play outdoors with their friends and family (brothers, sisters, cousins, etc.) [enjoying the last few weeks of their summer break (vacation.)]

Ahhh yes, Awesome August is here and not only is it sizzling; but it is also super spectacular with festivals; concerts and CELEBRATIONS OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE.

Just 2 days ago my country of birth Trinidad and its sister island Tobago celebrated Emancipation day [The abolition of slavery], and so did the lovely island of Jamaica.  The people of these Caribbean islands celebrated the trials and tribulations their ancestors (SLAVES) endured; and the freedom that was earned for them from the evils of slavery.

Additionally, in a few days on August 6th the beautiful Island of JAMAICA will be celebrating their golden jubilee – 50 years of Independence.  And at the end of the month Trinidad and Tobago will celebrate their 50th Anniversary of independence as well.

For Jamaicans this special day – Monday, August 6th marks 50 years since their country gained full Independence from Britain.  And on this exceptional day IT IS MOST DEFINITELY the time to celebrate the struggles and sacrifices of the Jamaican people, who took their own destiny in their hands on August 6, 1962.  Oh yes, it is a celebration of the journey of a strong and proud nation, with a rich heritage who stood on their OWN feet 50 years ago.  What a milestone they have accomplished huh?  As I reflect on Jamaica, their successes are what immediately come to mind: successes in growth and development; a leader in producing bauxite; a thriving tourism industry; a music industry that is both innovative and remarkable, and which produces some super talented artists and musicians; proficient governance; and superior athletes [just to name a few.] But I must not forget the beautiful people, delicious foods, and the overall beauty of the island.

Congratulations to Jamaica ~ ~ ~ THIS IS A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT!   We at Arious Entertainment Group extend our sincere CONGRATULATIONS once again to the government and the people of Jamaica as they celebrate 50 years of independence.  We absolutely have great love for Jamaica and are proud as every Jamaican, that they have achieved so much over these past 50 years.  AN INCREDIBLE MILESTONE ACCOMPLISHED INDEED!

As you know the Summer Olympics is currently being held in London.  It started a week ago (Friday, July 27th) and will end on Sunday, August 12th, 2012.   I never did focus on the opening ceremony; but from all accounts it was spectacular.   There are 8 more days left of competitions, and at this point I want to congratulate all the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners.

Most importantly, we at Arious congratulate USA Artistic Gymnast Gabby_Douglas-1.jpg (5798 bytes)Gabby Douglas for winning 2 GOLD medals, and making history.  She is the first African –American and first woman of color in Olympic history to become the individual all-around champion.  And the first American Gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics.  Gabby is SUPER AWESOME, and a beautiful young lady as well!!!   WE ARE PROUD OF YOU GABBY!!!

I understand Track and Field begins today; so I’m sure many will be glued to their TV sets to check out all the races and competitions.

As I close this week, I want to share with you a message we received from Mrs. Dianne Samuels, Chairperson of The Trinidad and Tobago Working Women’s Committee.  You may recall I shared with you last week information regarding this committee hosting/holding a fundraiser to honor The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Washington DC (the second oldest Caribbean Organization in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.)  My husband Todd and I didn’t make it to this event "For Old Times' Sake;"  but from all the reports it seemed to have had a magnificent turnout, and was a great success.  For us this is wonderful news, and we are so happy many of you took the time out of you busy schedule to attend this special fundraiser/event.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Now, let me proceed with sharing with you a few nice words from Mrs. Deanne Samuels.   (See Below.)

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

Words cannot express our gratitude for the overwhelming response we received last Saturday in support of the fundraiser for the Trinidad & Tobago Association of Washington, DC.

We always knew we could depend on our base supporters; we always knew that individuals who learnt about our purpose and objective would support our endeavors; but your show of support on Saturday night—it was a humbling experience.

On behalf of the members of the Working Women’s Committee, we thank you for your unwavering support.

Warmest regards,

  Deanne Samuels, Chairperson

Trinidad & Tobago Working Women’s Committee
