Online Family and Friends, once again I say hello to you and send you special greetings!  We at Arious Entertainment Group hope you are well, and everything is superb in you life!

It is imperative for me to start off by saying "EID MUBAREK" to the many Muslims here in the US; in my country of birth Trinidad and its Sister Island Tobago (who celebrated with a public holiday earlier this week); and everyone who have, and may still be celebrating this religious and joyous occasion.

What a glorious week it has been!  Lots of folks have been out and about enjoying the sunshine and September like temperatures; while others are out doing something or another to keep fit (walking, running or biking.)  Uh…wee and the nights are beautifully mild, and truly lovely.  Hum, that last statement has me thinking … is it me or did July’s scorcher weather (3 digit temperatures) make you think it was August?  And doesn’t August weather oddly feel like September?  Well then, one is left wondering: what does September hold for us…right?  Whatever it may be; just know that you must prepare yourself for anything, because without a doubt over this past year we have experienced some bizarre weather and weather phenomenon[s].

Yet another week, and life is breezing by!  So much to do in my simply and joyful life, but have very little time to focus on starting and completing all that I have laid out in my head to do.  Hahaha, maybe I need to get them out of my head and on paper huh?  I suppose that would be one step closer to obtaining success and completion.  Or I wonder if the remedy is something simple as utilizing the time I do have wisely … prioritizing … enhance time management! [...LOL...]  Well, I'll let it be for now.  Without a doubt, something will come to mind so that this issue is resolved.

And soooooo, I keep beaming…just beaming because I am in love with the beauty and brightness that surrounds me (especially in my home;) and more importantly I’m loving the steps my husband - Todd is taking as he work towards conquering another important assignment in life.  An assignment that will absolutely help him with his business in the future.  Oh…yeah...a bit challenging I’m certain that road ahead WILL BE for him; but because I believe in him, and know his brilliance…his mind; without a doubt he WILL succeed.  And besides “I got his back!”

Alright then, I must tell you a little of my experience regarding the Trinidad and Tobago 50th Independence celebration “Jammin In The Park;” which was held last Saturday (August 18th) in the Nation’s Capital (Washington DC.)

Personally, I had a super-duper time; even though a few important specs about the staging of the event disappointed me.  But, then again - - - I cannot be overly critical since it was a FREE event, and a  celebration of my culture and place of birth.

It was a very nice and refreshing long walk to the “Yards Park” from where we found parking (The Washington Nationals {baseball team} had a game that day, so parking was atrocious.)  *Hehehe…but had we left our home at a reasonable time, that problem would have been solved … [some of you might be saying…right?]*

Upon arrival [weirdly] a special feeling came over me, because a lovely vision was before my eyes … a sea of red, white and black (Trinidad and Tobago Flags, clothing in the color of the T&T flag, buttons, jewelry, and even Emblems embedded/embroidered to clothing.) Ah, and the smiling faces of so many I have not seen in some time ~~~ that was really wonderful!  Folks all around us were just having a great time, smiling, greeting us with hugs and hand shakes, chatting happily, singing along with the artist that was performing, swaying or dancing to the music; LOL, and of course many had their red “solo” cups in their hands filled with something or another.  WOW...WHAT A SIGHT TO BEHOLD!!!

Needless to say, my heart was full of pride; because it was a joy to have had an opportunity to be a small part of the community coming together to celebrate our golden jubilee.  And even more proud to see a dream come true that was conveyed to me, and a few other business owners in the community a few short years ago by the Ambassador_Parsan_&_Mr.&Mrs.jpg (51331 bytes)His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Neil Parsan.  He envisioned a celebration, but from his description - on a much larger scale; and which would have taken place at a historical location (such as the National Mall---Monument grounds, or somewhere on that scale.)  Overall though, he promised us it would happen and stressed that it WILL HAPPEN with the help from the community, and US the Caribbean Business owners.  And it certainly did!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Ambassador Neil Parsan and SPECIAL THANKS to him, and his entire staff; as well as the main sponsor – The Trinidad and Tobago Entertainment Company.  All the artists (Legendary Mighty Sparrow, Destra, Kes, Benjai and Raymond Ramnarine) must be thanked as well for entertaining us throughout the lovely evening on August 18th.  A pleasant evening that emphasized … expressed the true meaning of "ONE LOVE!"  And an awesome evening that will go down in my history book!

I captured a few pictures of this event, but time never permitted me to download them to my computer so that I could share them with you.  I will in the near future though!

Oh, I almost forgot to thank so many of you for talking with me one on one, and "shooting" me e-mails regarding my crazy discussion with a friend who is an “Independent Voter.”  Yup, I am talking about that long discussion I shared with you last week via our weekly E-Newsletter “The Arious Grapevine” that originally took place on “Facebook.”  Please CLICK HERE to check out LAST WEEKS' E-NEWSLETTER (if you so happen NOT to have had a chance to read it.)  Some of your comments were truly thought provoking, and for me educational.  After debating with myself long and hard about sharing them with you; I decided NOT TO…at least not at this time {maybe when it gets closer to the Presidential Elections; and besides it would have been  too lengthy.}

Oh well, a friend sent the below picture to me that I thought I should share with you.  I have seen this picture posted on many “Facebook” users status; but since a reader sent it, I said - what the heck...why not share it.  I wonder what kind of controversy and confusion this one will make…hahaha, I wonder if I will be targeted again for simply sharing it.  HERE GOES!

Thank you also for sending me e-mails expressing appreciation for what I shared regarding The Honorable Marcus Mosiah GarveyI am happy that you were pleased by my little way of honoring and celebrating him on his 125th birthday.  Many of you stressed on the facts of his teachings and works promoting economic independence (self-sufficiency) within the black community!  Yes, clearly this leader...this noble man...this head of a historical social movement opened up the consciousness of many in the Black Community and even around the world.  Some of you even took the time to focus on the issues the Black Community are enduring now, and compared it to what was taking place during Mr. Garvey's time.  Thanks also for pointing out the fact that Mr. Garvey's philosophies truly opened up the consciousness of many around the world, and helped tremendously with black pride...race pride, economic independence, and hope.

As I wish you adieu, I must share with you an important event taking place this Sunday, August 26th - 2:00 pm at the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum, located at 1901 Fort Place, SE, Washington DC 20020.  Plus I was recently informed that a repeat of this event will also be taking place at The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Embassy in Washington DC, on Monday, August 27th at 6:00 pm.  The Embassy is located at: 1708 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington DC.  This special event is a Lecture and Book Signing - a special presentation of one of Trinidad and Tobago's pride and joy "THE PAN" by Dr. Kim Johnson.  See the flyer below for additional details.  You will also find more details under our "Featured Events" section.

Have a wonderful weekend, and do enjoy your week ahead.
