Dearest Online Family and Friends: How is it going for you in your world? I am hopeful that all is well with you and your family. I am super excited about the growth of technology, and extremely happy that this form of communication is at my "fingertips," so that I can keep in touch with you frequently (LOL...at least once a week). This, I am truly grateful for! I thank you for always taking the time to read and correspond. Your feedback is extremely helpful to me, and is so very welcomed.
some degree I find that this month…the month of April have been
uniquely historic. Indeed,
quite a few momentous incidents have taken place, and have successfully
been registered in our history books.
I must say though, April of this year has been extremely catastrophic due to all the natural disasters that have transpired. Oftentimes, I sit and reflect [in awe] on all that is transpiring around the world. It is absolutely mind-boggling learning that 60 tornadoes touched down in the Carolinas over this past weekend killing dozens of people; and fires that is currently burning in the West [1.4 million acres of land in Texas scorched; completely destroying homes, killing a great number of animals, and driving residents away from their beloved homes to safety.] Of course, I cannot forget about the escalating and worrisome nuclear problem that currently exists; due to the earthquake and tsunami that took place in Japan a little over a month ago. WOW, and how about all the violence and killings stemming from the pro democracy rallies around the globe; plus the wars transpiring around the world (where many human lives are brutally being taken). Gee, these are certainly scary times…right???? a sigh of relief I am glad to be able to point out some positive and
interesting global events that are celebrated; or have been celebrated
this past week. LOL…ha…ha…ha;
since we all are open-minded people who are willing, and have no
inhibitions regarding discussing all types of issues; I suppose can
first start with “420 Day."
20th every year
since the early 70s “420
Day” have been celebrated and declared unofficially a Cannabis
Holiday. Yup, it’s an informal sub-culture holiday in honor of what in
my world folks call “Green Herb Day”; and what others call
“National Smoke Day”, along with quite a few other names. A day based on the simple concept of smoking cannabis
and being happy. While
others believe it would be disastrous if Cannabis is legalized, others
strongly feel it’s the HEALING OF THE NATION.
my hope is not to offend anyone of you my on-line family and friends by
talking about 420 Day. However, I feel we must be “real” about the sensitive
issue of legalizing Cannabis (for medical purposes at this time…of
Throughout time there have been a strong movement to end marijuana prohibition, and folks have been ferociously fighting for the Green Herb to be legalized. In recent years it has had subsequent success in many states across America, and early last year there was a policy shift by the Obama administration; which openly called for the limitation of prosecuting sick people who use the drug for medical purposes, or to the caregivers that dispense it in states that have passed medical marijuana legislation.
There have been a tremendous amount of activity in the marijuana arena, resulting in many states currently regulating medical marijuana. However, the vicious debate regarding the legalization of cannabis continues. I guess only the lovers of “Green Herb” can get involved in changing the Government interferences that prohibits the use and consumption [for medical purposes and spiritual benefits.]
In one of the states that legalized Cannabis for medical purposes (California) the State Director for the Drug Policy Alliances - Mr. Stephen Gutwllig stated the following some time ago:

April 22, 2011, marks the
41st anniversary of a widely celebrated International Environmental
Event ~~~ “EARTH DAY”
“EARTH DAY” is the celebration of Earth’s unique place in the university…a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment, and a time for many around the world to become educated about the important environmental issues facing our plant. Plus assess the work that still needs to be completed to protect the natural gifts of our planet. Further, it’s a time to celebrate gains we have made, and create new vision to accelerate environmental progress.
On this unique day families
will come together; as well as adults of all ages, civic leaders,
entertainers and other community members around the globe to share a
common commitment to make greener life choices and stem the tide of
climate change. And most
importantly, to show their support for responsible/brave environmental
41 years after the first Earth
Day, it has been reported; in fact it is obvious the world is in greater
peril…more than every before. While
climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, it also presents
the greatest opportunity – an unprecedented opportunity to build a
healthy, prosperous, clean energy economy NOW AND FOR THE FUTURE.
Many believe Earth Day this year (2011) can be a turning point to
advance more uses of natural gas and other forms of clean energy, energy
efficiency, renewable energy, climate policy, and green jobs.
Happy Earth Day! Keep in mind protecting the Earth is every person’s and every country’s responsibility; and we all must be accountable for what we use, and how we use it! We absolutely hope your Earth Day is GREEN.

A Joyous Easter to You and Yours!
This weekend April 22nd – April 24th, we celebrate the end of a spiritual season. A Season when most people…Christians (rather) have taken the time for introspection, self examination, and repentance. Many have been fasting and working on giving up many things, including bad habits; or have been repenting for failures and sins. During this time we are filled with hope, joy, warmth and new birth; and we pray to obtain that second chance to make things right. Overall, this is certainly the time to cleanse our heart, our mind, our spirit and our soul and begin new again with new hope, new meaning and new dreams.
this season comes to a close~~~it all culminates THIS WEEKEND AS WE
CELEBRATE EASTER! A
truly blessed time for the faithful to celebrate the life, death and
resurrection of the/their “Savior” Jesus Christ.
It is also a magical time for Children as they enjoy Easter Egg
Hunts/Rolls, chocolate bunnies, marshmallow chicks and jelly bean filled
we observe “Good Friday”, and what immediately comes to mind is the
delicious “hot cross buns” my brothers and I would eat on this
special day. In fact,
everyone in my country would eat these scrumptious buns.
(These buns are sweet, soft buns
that have a cross on the top that symbolizes the crucifixion of Jesus
while talking to my mom just a day ago, she proceeded to share with me
all the different “ground provisions” (foods such as potato,
dasheen, plantain, cassava, pumpkin and green banana) her
friend/associate had given her for her/my family [in Trinidad] Good
Friday meal. Needless-to-say,
hearing her talk about what she will be preparing made me extremely
homesick. Her “Good
Friday” meals have always been awesome; the provisions served with
some type of fish either salted cod, fried or stewed fish, and topped
off with a special dish in my country (Trinidad) called Coo-Coo;
has always been truly splendid!
Saturday in my country growing up has always been quiet, since it
was such a holy time; and it remained that way throughout my years
living in this country. I
however found during my time being a part of the Organizing Committee of
the DC Caribbean Carnival; having to host and work on this day due to
our Carnival Launching taking place every year on Glorious Saturday.
Weird, I simply forgot (then) it was a holy weekend and not one
for parties (I guess working at something one loves lead them to do all
sorts of things.)
Easter Sunday, it always have been about Church and celebrating the
“Resurrection of Christ” (for all Christians.) As a child my mom made sure my brothers and I were nicely
dressed and attended Church, and the Mass was always intriguing to me.
There, I was afforded the opportunity to learn everything about
Easter, and my understanding for the season was significantly momentous.
I look back on those years, and even now as an adult; this entire season
[from Ash Wednesday~~~the day after Carnival commenced in Trinidad]
until Easter Sunday and Easter Monday (celebrated in my country),
it is truly a holy time; as well as a very special time of year with
lots of meaning. Indeed, it
is a special time that is used to reflect on what needs to change in our
lives, so that we could start fresh and TRULY BE BRAND NEW!!!
would like to wish each and every one of you a very HAPPY EASTER and as
this extraordinary Sunday approaches please share in the blessings of
"The benefits [of the resurrection] and innumerable. To list a few: Our illnesses don't seem nearly so final; Our fears fade and lose their grip; Our grief over those who have gone on is diminished; Our desires to press on in spite of the obstacles is rejuvenated...Our identity as Christians is strengthened as we stand in the lengthening shadows of saints down through the centuries, who have always answered back in antiphonal voice" He is risen, indeed".
