Greetings Dearest Online Family and Friends:  How are each and every one of you, as well as your family?  I truly hope all of you are wonderful, and everything is perfect in your world.

My goodness, it seems like just yesterday we decided to partner with our colleagues and friends of the Caribbean Cooperative to make what we all envisioned (for our special event) become a reality.  And…WoW it’s only 1 day away!

I must say the brain storming sessions were real cool, as well as the healthy heated discussions.  What I find most fascinating about this venture is having such a strong group working closely together to make this event a success.  In fact, having a group working towards the same goal, TOGETHER as a team is awesome!

We (the entire team) have done quite a bit getting the word out, and making sure you know about our event.  Needless to say, we are ecstatic; and truly ready to meet and greet each and every one of you.  As a matter of fact, we look forward to having an amazing time along with you.  Our DJs are all geared up to entertain you, and they are committed to keeping you on the dance floor all night long.  Additionally, our bartenders simply can’t wait to serve you.

Let me elaborate a bit on our special guest DJ “Smally the Golden Touch”, and quite frankly he lives up to his name; because he absolutely HAS THE GOLDEN TOUCH!   He is a seasoned and extremely versatile DJ who knows his music, and is skilled in mixing and blending quite well.  Personally, coming from Trinidad I am used to DJs who are extremely talented in their craft; and the one important skill that I appreciate from a DJ is: he/she DOES NOT play in sets (a set of reggae, soca, hip hop, R&B,  etc.).  My husband Todd and I both find it important that the DJ absolutely mix and blend all the genres of music in such a way that the transition between songs is seamless and smooth.  Which, if done right will afford everyone in attendance to remain on the dance floor; and ultimately have a fantastic time.  Oh yeah, this is what we are definitely looking forward to from DJ Smally.  In fact, we’re looking forward to all our DJs entertaining you to the max.

Grown_&_Sexy_Night-11.12.2011-F-XLg.JPG (121795 bytes)Therefore, tomorrow night will be a spectacular one; and we look forward to seeing you at the Premier Event of the Caribbean Cooperative and Arious Entertainment Group.  You absolutely MUST join us for our “Special Grown and Sexy Night to Remember...Long Time We Nah Fete Like This” at the Crossroads Entertainment Complex, 4103 Baltimore Avenue, Downtown Bladensburg, Maryland.  It's guaranteed to be an awesome night!

Remember $15.00 discounted Advanced Tickets are still available on-line until Saturday at 12:00 Noon; so click on the button to the right to purchase yours.  Discounted Tickets can also be purchased in Washington DC @ Crown Bakery-202-291-3009.  Keep in mind admission at the door is $20.00.

Before closing out my words on our event, I must say a very Happy Birthday to Cheryl and Thomas who will be celebrating their birthdays at our “Special Grown and Sexy Night To Remember…Long Time We Nah Fete Like This.”

Today, Friday, November 11th, 2011, we at Arious Entertainment Group along with all of America pay tribute to all Veterans.  Veterans who have served and still serves (past and present) whether active duty military, National Guard or Reserve...the entire spectrum of the armed forces are sincerely honored.

Veteran's day is a very special day, but this year it is extra special because a little under a month ago - on October 21, 2011, to be exact~~~ President Barack Obama announced to the world that our soldiers in Iraq will be returning home in time for the holidays.  Yes, the war in Iraq is over, and many are thrilled to have their family member/s return to home to them!!!

"After nearly nine years, America 's war in Iraq will be over, " President Barack Obama said Friday, October 21, 2011 in announcing the full withdrawal of U.S. troops by the end of the year. He added, "Today I can say that our troops in Iraq will definitely be home for the holidays."  [President Barack Obama Address To the Nation on 10/21/2011.]  Click Here to hear and read the entire speech.

As we process this spectacular news; this year [particularly] we must let all of our living Veterans know exactly how much they are appreciated, and their strength are greatly admired, as well as their dedication and loyalty to this country.  For this WE TOTALLY HONOR THEM...DEEPLY!  Indeed, each of our Veterans have taken a huge step forward into the unknown for the defense and support of this Great Nation.  They all are applauded for the bravery and strength they exhibit in the pursuit for our safety and freedom.  Moreover, these veterans have given selfless service to their country in times of war and peace. "At every critical stage in America ’s history, these men and women stepped up when they were needed, and their efforts to preserve the freedom we know have made an impact at home and abroad."

To the ones who have fought for us to enjoy our freedoms and made the ultimate sacrifice; we must pay special tribute to them and recognize them fully...all of our wonderful brave mothers, fathers sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the sake of our freedoms; keeping our country safe; and just for the common good.

As I pause for a moment thinking about the many...many thousands who have lost there lives fighting in the Iraq war for these 8 and 1/2 years, and in the Afghanistan wars; I respect them and honor them.  Honestly, I  can't help but sigh and say a small prayer for the families who have grieved and is still grieving for their lost.  The contribution and sacrifices these families have made is unbelievable.  You too are truly appreciated greatly!!!

I am so very thrilled that the "End of Combat in Iraq" has occurred, and the troops are returning home as President Barack Obama promised.   However, many are still in Afghanistan; so keep in mind that many of our loved ones are still in a dangerous place.  Moreover, they are still in harms way fighting bravely for our freedoms.

As in past years, we at Arious Entertainment Salute you our country's 23 million+ military U.S. veterans including the millions currently serving.  Moreover, we honor, respect and appreciate you for your courage, commitment and for sacrificing so much to guard our freedom and this country, as well as advancing peace to many here and abroad. Thanks to you the many men and women for all you have done over the years while serving in the uniforms of this great nation.   May God protect and keep you safe as you serve this great country - The United States of America.

The history of veterans Day dates back to the end of World War I (The Great War as it was called) where an armistice (temporary halt of hostilities) was implemented between the allies and Germany at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month (November) in 1918.

November 11th was declared "Armistice Day" in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson to honor the soldiers of World War I.

After world War II, the holiday was recognized as a tribute to veterans of both world wars.  Beginning in 1954, the United States designated November 11th as Veterans Day to honor veterans of all U.S. Wars...

As I bring my small tribute to a close, I feel it is mandatory that more is done regarding the mental state of our soldiers/veterans (all those who serve, and has served our nation in wars.)  I spoke about this last year, and I feel it is important to briefly talk about this again; especially since so many thousands will be returning home soon.

Indeed, many are physically fit and are even very healthy, but mentally a large amount of our soldiers are maimed due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  This vicious disorder (PTSD), which was once called  "shell shock" or "combat fatigue"  displays symptoms that include flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks, feelings of detachment and estrangement from others, irritability, rage, trouble concentrating, emotional outbursts and sleeplessness. PTSD in veterans often coexists with other disorders such as clinical depression and substance abuse.

We have seen over the years how destructive this disorder is.  In fact, as I write my mind runs on, and will never forget the 2009 rampage of Major Nadal Malik who shot and killed 13 of his comrades and wounded 32 more in the Fort Hood, Texas Military Base Tragedy.  Those killings and woundings were heartfelt,  As I look back though, it is clear to me that Major Malik's mental state of mind paid a major role in his rampage!  Additionally, I feel PTSD had a lot to do with the 2002 Sniper killings in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, which was by the hands of executed John Allen Muhammad, who was an ex-Military man/soldier.)

From my readings, obviously this disorder truly plagues our soldiers and a tremendous amounts of work must be done to help them as they return from our wars with this problem.  For anyone who needs help click the following link for details http://www.mentalhealth.va.gov/VAMentalHealthGroup.asp.  Additionally, CLICK HERE To Read an interesting Article published in the New York Times regarding this subject, and which list ways for one to obtain help.)

As I close, I need to let you know that the curfew has been lifted in Trinidad and Tobago, but the State of Emergency (“SOE”) remains in effect.  I know just about every citizen is pleased about the removal of the curfew, and are celebrating (partying hard.)  I too am a bit relieved, but every citizen must remember that THEY STILL HAVE NO RIGHTS.  PLEASE KEEP IN MIND FELLOW CITIZENS THAT THE STATE OF EMERGENCY IS A BIGGER ISSUE, AND YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS ARE STILL VERY  LIMITED.  Law abiding citizens I beg you to be aware, alert and smart while this State of Emergency still exists.

I will talk further about this in the next E-Newsletter.

Kindly continue praying with me for the people of Trinidad and Tobago; so that they are given strength to overcome the hardships they are experiencing during this devastating time.  That they become each other’s keeper.  That they work hand in hand in peace, love and harmony with their fellow men!

Our heartfelt sympathies go out the family, friends and fans of one of the most influential rappers of all time.  Earlier this week we learned Heavy D the "Overweight Lover" of hip-hop's golden age (Dwight Arrington Myers) passed on.  This news was very shocking because Heavy D was so young, he was only 44 years old.  He was born in 1967, and grew up in "Money-earnin" Mount Vernon, New York.  Heavy D emigrated to the United States with his family from Jamaica.

Heavy D will forever remain in my thoughts because his music was always positive, and played a major part in my life as a teenager growing up here in the United States.

May he rest in peace!
