Greetings Dearest Online Family and Friends:  We hope all of you are good, and things are fantastic in your lives..  Additionally, we hope you are enjoying the change of season.

This morning heading into the city was fascinating.  Such a crisp, sunny, and refreshing morning on this lovely 6th day in October…in fact these past 3 days were spectacular, and certainly a welcomed relief from the excessive dark cloudy skies, and constant rain.  It is truly evident that the very hot days have past on; and the leaves on the trees have absolutely taken on the brilliant colors; while others are constantly falling and drifting past my window, where it ends up lining the roadway on which I traveled (making it a gorgeous haven of color.)

Hum, school is in full session, and not only me; but many of you are enthused and fully geared up to reinvent ourselves, as well as make particular changes in our lives.  I imagine (if you feel like I do) you too are ready to embrace and even tackle the next few months of 2011.  Indeed, we are ready to think new thoughts and formulate new theories that we intend to implement.  Yes indeed, lovely autumn; as well as the harvest season are upon us!!!

October is not only the sweetest and loveliest month of Autumn~~~full of beauty and change; it is also inspiring and motivating due to it being used to emphasize and raise utmost awareness to several important...heartfelt issues here in America and around the world:

(1) National Breast Cancer Awareness Month ~~~ A health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.  Additionally; this is a time to celebrate survivors, give support and information to those who are affected by the disease, and honor those who have died from the disease.)

Let's remember this special month, by joining the runs taking place across the nation, as well as purchasing a pink bracelet or even a pink ribbon; and do as much as we can to truly support the fight of breast cancer.  Remember National Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrates 27 years of awareness, education and empowerment.

 (2) National Domestic Violence Awareness Month ~~~ During this month of raising awareness; we must pledge to acknowledge the intimate partner violence occurring around us whether it be physical, emotional, psychological or sexual; and we promise to do something about it.

Fundamentally, it is about power and control...experts believe it is a pattern of abusive and controlling behavior that one partner uses against another in an intimate relationship.  [Behaviors such as physical abuse (battering/family violence), sexual and verbal abuse, economic coercion and other intimidating behaviors.]

We must find a way to stop Domestic Violence.  In fact, I urge you to wear purple to bring awareness; and to really help with stopping domestic violence.  CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE.

On the issue of Trinidad and Tobago as they STILL undergo the imposed State of Emergency (“SoE”.)  I must first say that I am pleased to hear that Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was released from being hospitalized for 2 (two) days/nights. (She was admitted on Wednesday, Sept. 28th and released on  Friday, Sept. 30th, 2011.)

After attending and addressing the American Chamber of Industry and Commerce’s 15th Annual Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference on Wednesday, September 28th, she was taken to the hospital due to not feeling well, where she underwent a serious of tests (a full check-up.)

Even though it's a week later, I ask that you join me in keeping the Prime Minister in our thoughts and prayers, so that she recoups fully to her healthy state.  Further, so that she can get back to leading the country; as well as taking care of the country’s affairs, and its citizens.

  • Last Wednesday per all print, radio, TV and internet media; I understand the Prime Minister (before she fell ill) indicated she is analyzing the existing curfew hours and intend to address the nation regarding adjusting them.  In fact, it has been reported she wants to take it back to what was implemented at the start of the SoE; (curfew start time: 9pm and ending at: 5am.)   The Prime Minister has yet to address the nation on her decision.

I wonder if the PM realizes that the curfew is not a solution to the “so-called” major crime issue in her country; nor is locking up the citizens for [practically] non-sense.  And many of those locked up are constantly being released due to the State having no evidence on these men and women.

In my humble opinion it solves nothing!!!

Hum, I still can’t get over the fact that the freedom of the citizens are taken away due to a 0.003% of the citizens are committing crimes!!!  This to is not logical to me!

[Out of the 449 people arrested under the Anti-Gang Act/Legislation, 171 were released without being charged late last weekwithout a charge being laid against them by the Police; following the intervention of Public Prosecutions Director-Roger Gaspard who fully reviewed their cases: [insufficient evidence.]  He stated: “prosecution offers no evidence in these matters and takes the liberty to discontinue the matters by filing the requisite notices of discontinuance of these matters."  Needless-to-say, many others arrested under this Anti-Gang Act/Legislation continued being released at the start of this week; and still continues today, due to insufficient evidence [as of yesterday October 5th, Sixty seven (67) more people charged were freed; and several more today.]

Of course, many have stated they intend to file suit against the state for "malicious prosecution" and "false imprisonment."  [92 were charged with other offences which are not gang related.]

Wow,  the Powers That Be explained: "SoE is imposed to clean up/control crime!"  But what was really the point, if so many (more than 50%) have been released due to insufficient evidence!  The alleged criminals are back out on the streets...nothing really solved...right???

  • By The Way, the total amount arrested as of this week is 3,858.  Of course 449 have been arrested under the Anti-Gang Act/Legislation (above I noted several hundreds were released).  Another 791 are for traffic offences; 217 are for breaking the curfew; and 410 are for "Enquiries" [inquiries].  The other 1991 arrested individuals are for: Outstanding Warrants; drug offences, serious offences; and a small amount includes homicide investigations (57); and others are (198.)  As far as guns recovered the figure is: 123.

  • In my last E-Newsletter, I made mention to Police Officials abusing their powers and seriously mistreating and brutalizing citizens; and most importantly humiliating and disrespecting women during their searches and arrests.  Funny, I got quite a few comments about me mentioning this, where some grumbled a bit; and felt I didn’t know what I was talking about.  Well, just a few days ago Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (“TTPS”) - Assistant Superintendent of Police and Public Relations/Information Officer Joanne Archie acknowledged that indeed citizens are being abused by some of her officers...allegations are correct of major misconduct.

And she stated adamantly in a weekly briefing/press conference recently that:

"The rights of the individual must be considered at all times.

“The police are governed by the rule of law. In cases where breaches are discovered, disciplinary action would be taken, and in some cases criminal charges would be laid. “We urge members of the public to come forward and lodge their reports, and we assure you that these members would be thoroughly investigated, and the results highlighted.”

Ms. Archie further explained

"When a report is made about police brutality, the officer is served with a notice informing him of the allegation made against him. It is then investigated, and if there is merit in the report, the police officer would face a tribunal."  “He can be found guilty, or be exonerated, based on the evidence. This is why we advise persons do not just say the police beat me, or abuse me, you need to come forward and let the process take its course.”

I am very pleased citizens are no longer being stifled and pressured to subdue their experiences.  I am glad they are encouraged by Ms. Archie to come forward and report any brutality and/or harassments bestowed upon them during this State of Emergency!

Gosh, it is so evident there is a major disconnect with the government of T & T and the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago...certainly the citizens are not being served correctly.  Which to me is very disheartening and distasteful, because I know many of these good, honest, hard working, law-abiding citizens are enduring a lot during this horrible time in their lives.  Where all their Constitutional rights are stripped; being mistreated by Powers that be; arrested detained and jailed for enormous amounts of time.  And their life and livelihood turned upside down due to the curfews implemented!

Imagine for a moment (if you may) how much their sense of self worth is stripped, and how upset many may be; having been arrested and treated like a common criminal [many who are clearly not criminals due to the amounts of folks who are released, and being released on a daily basis.]

As for the others who were arrested for minor traffic violations, maintenance of a child or spouse, non-criminal acts, etc. this could have been done through normal day-to-day policing.

Dwayne_Gibbs.jpg (25551 bytes)Hum, Commissioner of Police (CoP) Dwayne Gibbs have truly been “slacking on his job” for the year and 2 months he has been in his position.  As a matter fact, I feel he has failed!!!!  ...A state of emergency and curfews in a wide amount of areas implemented, was absolutely not necessary; resulting in a large amount of citizens being harassed and arrested for such petty issues....Claiming the SoE was implemented to control crime.  Such non-sense and truly insulting citizens intelligence, as well as mine!!  Bottom line is CoP Gibbs has NOT been performing his job properly...RIGHT???

As I have stated every week,  my heart goes out to those who are suffering and are affected in some form or another over this SoE.  Continue feeling free to share with me exactly what quite a few of you are experiencing…I am pleased to hear the stories and cries coming out of the voices of many.

I pray that the people of Trinidad and Tobago are given the strength to overcome the hardships they are experiencing during this devastating time.  That they become each other’s keeper.  That they work hand in hand in peace, love and harmony with their fellow men!

More importantly, I pray that this State of Emergency is re-evaluated by the Powers that Be, and is removed very soon.

Even though it is difficult during these poignant times in Trinidad,  I know many of you still have faith in your social ideals and values,  and most importantly in DEMOCRACY;  and absolutely have the capacity to deal with any difficulty  (such as what is taking place in Trinidad and Tobago today).   I know this faith;  as well as prayer will keep you strong and united;  and will carry you through this difficult time.   I strongly feel it is important that us the citizens work together NOW to build a bright and promising future for our country…we can overcome any task or difficulty that is placed before us UNITED.

One Flag,  One Land,  One heart,  One mind,  One hand placed together as one…”TOGETHER WE ASPIRE…TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE!”   I pray that the dreams of a new tomorrow come true for all citizens of my great country of my birth.  Trinidad and Tobago.

I thank you once again my on-line family and friends for your wonderfully educational and extremely thought provoking feedback.    I can't stop thanking my husband  "Todd Mangatal"  for his great input regarding the many discussions,  research,  and his assistance in the conveying of this important issue.

Again,  I ask you to share with me your thoughts on this important above issue.   I am always delighted when I receive them; so please keep them coming in, as it helps me to learn and improve my way of thinking and seeing things.

October is designated Calypso History Month in Trinidad and Tobago.  In recognition of calypso's incomparable contribution to Trinidad & Tobago's life, culture and identity.  The theme for this year is: "By calypso our stories are told."  This year's theme focuses on exploring the role Calypsonians have played in documenting the history of Trinidad and Tobago. The roots of calypso is traced to the 1800’s when the African slaves kept abreast of the happenings of the day as well as sought to preserve their identity as Africans through music and songs they sometimes composed on the cuff.

"Calypso, along with the steelpan, is probably Trinidad & Tobago's greatest cultural export. More than the catchy rhythms that took North America and Europe by storm (particularly in the 30s, 40s and 50s), the artform is a chronicle of Trinbagonian life and culture. It is also the progenitor of numerous other local musical artforms – soca, rapso, and fusions with rock, chutney, gospel music, and almost every musical style imaginable.

Calypso History Month was launched on Friday 1 October. The Trinidad & Tobago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO), under President Lutalo 'Brother Resistance' Masimba, embarked upon a programme of activities under this year's theme."

I wasn’t really surprise to hear the news regarding Prime Minister of Jamaica Bruce Golding’s resignation annoucement.  He submitted it a little over a week ago and his party "The Jamaica Labour Party" ("JLP"), finally accepted it.  After his improper actions regarding the Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, extradition last year; as well as the massacre of many citizens in the Tivoli Gardens community; I expected him to tender his resignation then.  And I understand he did some time ago, but it was rejected by his JLP Party.

[Alleged contractual arrangement between the Government and a United States law firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips to lobby the US Government on a treaty dispute between the two countries that had arisen as a result of the Jamaican Government refusing to sign an extradition request for Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, who was wanted in the US on charges relating to narcotics, arms and ammunition trafficking.  The Golding Administration refused to sign the extradition request on the basis that the evidence was obtained contrary to Jamaican laws. Mr. Golding denied claims that Manatt, Phelps & Phillips was contracted to represent the Jamaican Government.]

[Once it was revealed that PM Golding had sanctioned the initiative for the Jamaica Labour Party to hire US lobbying firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips and his handling of the extradition request for Christopher "Dudus" Coke, members and groups of civil society, church groups and political parties called for his resignation. With the backing of his party, the Prime Minister maintained that he would continue his term as Prime Minister. This prompted the opposition Peoples National Party to table a motion of no confidence. The opposition leader Portia Simpson-Miller led the debate in Parliament outlining the arguments for Golding's removal from office and that he be censured . The debate lasted for 4 hours and at the end the motion was defeated 30-28, with members of the House of Representatives voting strictly on party lines.]

Many say it is a great lost, and Mr. Golding is one of Jamaica's most successful and powerful leaders I cannot disagree, because he has done quite a few good things!!!  Mr. Bruce Golding addressed the nation on Sunday October 2, 2011, regarding his resignation.

Bruce Golding stated:  "...The challenges of the last four years had taken their toll and it was appropriate now to step aside and make way for new leadership.  The last few years, perhaps, have been the most difficult period that any government has had to face...."

..."Questions about the role I played in the Coke/Manatt matter have remained a source of concern in the minds of many people. It was never about Coke’s guilt or innocence.  It was about a breach of our Constitution and had it been a person other than Coke it perhaps would never have become the cause célèbre that it turned out to be. We have since amended the Interception of Communications Act to permit in the future, the action that was taken in Coke’s case but which, at that time, was in violation of our Constitution.  However, the entire episode has affected me deeply and the perceptions that are held by some people have not been dispelled, notwithstanding the exhaustive deliberations of a Commission of Enquiry."  I cannot allow the challenges we face and the issues that we as a people must confront to be smothered or overpowered by this saga and the emotions that they ignite.   It would not be fair to my country; it would not be fair to my party.

Mr. Golding further stated: "...There are other considerations that led to my decision. It is time for my generation to make way for younger people whose time has come, who are more in sync with 21st century realities, whose vision can have a longer scope and who can bring new energy to the enormous tasks that confront us..."

"FlashPoint" - Presented by Hollis Lashley

Hollis Lashley message to the Arious Family

Hello Arious Family: This Week's Flashpoint is dedicated to all Brothers and Sisters who recognize that we have all come from the Spiritual Fountain of Love.  We forget, but if clear our Consciousness of ignorance, then we can again experience the Joy and Happiness which is ours by Divine right.  Rediscover the Light of Love which shines within us all, but which we cover up with our fears.

Hollis Lashley, Author, Gifts From the Heart

Be inspired and Motivated to increase your Spiritual Energy.

"On LOVE. 1 Corinthians 13. "

Interpreted by Hollis Lashley - 8/27/11

If I could be so eloquent that I can move you with words, and talk so sweet that you would do anything I suggest, but then have no Love in my heart, I will only be making noise like an old rusty bell.

And if I am the best Seer Man in the area, with the power to interpret dreams and get rid of evil spirits by telling you what kind of baths to take, and could tell you what number to play, and what to do to change your luck, but I am still only doing all this for the money, and without Love, then I am only a useless nothing.

If I am very generous, giving away all material things I have, want my body to be burnt as a martyr, but  do not sincerely love others, I am nothing.

In spite of all that I say, what I believe, and the things I do, if I am not motivated by Love, I am a big farce.

Love does not show off., but demonstrates compassion and kindness.

Love is understanding the other’s view, even if you are not in agreement..

Love does not boast about being better than others due to possessions or job status.

Love does not envy what others have, nor compare itself based on who has what.

Love is not jealous or rude and condescending to those you think inferior to you.

Love is not being so pig headed that you feel you are always right.

Love does not insist that it must win, even when you are doing what is wrong.

Love does what is right, even though it may not be to your own advantage.

Love understands and bears what appears good and what appears bad, because in the moment we may not be in a position to see the whole picture.

Love listens, and hopes for the best, and is able to wait for things to turn around.

Love is not like a best seller which lasts for a season, until the next good book is published.

Love lasts for always.

We may prophesy and be wrong, like knowing exactly where the storm will hit, and when.

Today’s knowledge becomes tomorrow’s foolishness.

Yesterday’s superstition has become today’s science.

When we come to know the truth, then all other explanations must pale in comparison.

When I was a child, I spoke and reasoned as a child.

As a man I am supposed to give up childish ways of thinking and reasoning.

Have I? I still do the things I am not supposed to do.

When I look into the mirror of my consciousness, I should be able to make out the face of my intentions and actions as motivated by a mature Love, and not fool myself with excuses for not doing what I should.

When I understand the real spiritual being I am created to be, then I can recognize the real spiritual you which God created, and then act accordingly.

There is Faith to believe what is not yet.

There is Hope to wait in expectation of the good manifesting, then,

There is Love which is putting Faith and Hope in action at all times.

Must I tell you which is the greatest of these three qualities?

Do I need to emphasize that the greatest of these is LOVE?

As I close, I must share with you that Last week I completed our weekly e-newsletter; but due to excitedly preparing for a weekend getaway,  I neglected to make the arrangements for distribution.  Therefore, I missed a week!  It was a bit worrisome, but I managed to unwind, and enjoyed the weekend to the fullest!!

Happy Columbus Day Everyone!

Those of you are traveling to Miami for the Caribbean Carnival do enjoy yourselves to the max.  Please be safe, and make sure you have a designated driver if you plan on drinking.

This is our 2nd year not attending Carnival in Miami; and it's cool on my end.  Last year we traveled to Florida, but never made it to Miami for the Carnival (we just didn't feel like it.)  This year we decided to do something different; so we are counting down the days before we travel out of the United States to visit a couple of Islands.   We absolutely need a few days away from everything, so that we return feeling new and fresh (so that we can proceed with doing everything in our power to reaching our goals.)

As for friends, family and associates in our circle who are celebrating birthdays this week, we hope you have HappyBirthday-roses.jpg (7061 bytes)a wonderful time; and a special HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

We send special birthday greetings Janice (Todd's Mom) and Allan (My Dad)!!!

Happy Birthday Cousin AnnMarie, Michael Bell, Leela B.
